Cumpston Family
John Quincy and Margaret Ann (Starwalt) Cumpston moved from Hays Springs, Nebraska to Tryon in 1904. John passed away in December of 1922, Margaret Ann in November of 1939.
The children were Walter, who died in infancy; Sylvia and Ida, who died in their late teens from tuberculosis; Florence, Alice, Elsie, Ira, Inez and Myrtle.

Aug. 2, 1932 - Nov. 30, 2009 YUTAN - Donald Cumpston, 77, died Monday (Nov. 30, 2009).
He was a teacher and coach at Arapahoe and Weeping Water, and served in the United States Military. Survived by wife Barbara; daughters Paula and husband, Cass Lofgreen of Steilacoom, Wash., Carla and husband, Bob Snyder of Yutan, Neb., Sheila Cumpston and Mila Bird of San Jose Calif.; brothers and sisters-in-law Leonard and Phyllis of Pittman, N.J., Harold of Carroll, Ind., Virginia Cumpston of Lexington, Janice Cumpston of Grand Island Neb., and brother-in-law Luther Miller of Cozad; four grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
Memorial service is Saturday, Dec., 12, 11 a.m., at St. Peter's United Methodist Church of Christ in Yutan. Family gathering Friday, Dec. 11, 6 p.m., at Yutan Funeral Home.
