The above photographs were taken by me on 15th and 16th February 2009 on Macquarie Island. one of the Sub-Antarctic Islands administered by Tasmania on behalf of the Australian Government.
I was en-route to the Antarctic following the writings of my relative Dr. John Stanley Cumpston. You can read more about his story under Cumpston Lives, and also see a photo of his grandfather JHL Cumpston.
Photo 5 (top right) is of the Cumpston Massif and glacier, named after John Stanley and the house with me outside it is of Cumpston House on the Macquarie Research station, again named after him.
