You will see in the following pages an enormous amount of data relating to CUMPSTONs and their variants. Where I have found a proven link to my own CUMPSTON line, I have also identified it by giving my relationship to that person, in the top left hand corner.
Where data refers to people still living, I have only included it if it is readily available through a public web search. I have included other researcher's data only with their permission.
Because the collection of data is ongoing, what you see is only a fraction of the total amount that I hold. Please contact me if you have seen something here that you would like to know more about, or if you feel you have some additional information to share.
In this first phase of development, I have included all entries which date from 1837 and a selection of earlier episodes. Birth entries have been collected from a number of resources including the GRO and many Parish Registers. Many have been checked against primary sources, and a large number have been checked against FreeBMD. (England & Wales, FreeBMD Death Index: 1837-1983 [database on-line]. Original data: General Register Office. England and Wales Civil Registration Indexes. London, England: General Register Office. Database Copyright © 1998-2003 Graham Hart, Ben Laurie, Camilla von Massenbach and David Mayall.)
I hold many hundreds of other entries which pre-date 1837, and I am currently juggling with different ways of uploading them to make most sense to the reader. Please be patient!
I welcome corrections, alternative and additional data, and any items of general interest that I have missed.
As time goes on I shall upload even more, so do please keep returning!
A reminder about colour coding:
The main person or topic on each page will be in a yellow box. Items referring to parents will be in a cream box on the same page, with links to their own page if they have one.
Where I have managed to identify members of the same family they will be in a colour coded box of their own.
I hope as you scroll through the pages these themes will make more sense.
Where ever there is a full page on an individual I shall underscore the link to make it easy for you to click on.
MARRIAGES ARE IN PINK BOXES
BIRTHS ARE IN YELLOW BOXES
DEATHS ARE IN GREEN BOXES
BURIALS ARE IN DARK GREEN BOXES
ON SOME COUNTY PAGES I AM EXPERIMENTING BY PUTTING PEOPLE INTO FAMILIES BY USING THE LDS BATCH NUMBER AND IDENTIFYING THE PARENTS. I AM STARTING IN SHROPSHIRE AND WELCOME COMMENTS ON WHETHER THIS MAKES SEARCHING EASIER.
