daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Christened Vital Records 9 Nov 1864

1870 13 St James The Less FHL 1545919 Liverpool Compston Sarah Jane daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Christened Vital Records 8 Feb 1870

Robert writes:

I think these are the children of Richard Compston and Elizabeth Compston (nee Smith) due to the fact that on 22/9/1864 their first son named Richard Compston died  and this tragic event must have made Richard and Elizabeth christen their daughter Hannah who would have been 4 years old to somehow protect her from harm as it is only 2 months after the death of their son Richard. It could also be that this was the church where the funeral of Richard took place and the minister persuaded them to christen Hannah. The christening of their daughter Sarah Jane Compston in 1870 also tallies with the birth certificate of Sarah Jane Compston being born 12/12/1869 as she would only have been 2 months old when she was christened.

The Christening details  do tally with the events below showing the birth certificates and death details  of Hannah Compston Richard Compston and Sarah Jane Compston to me proving that they all relate to the same Compston family.

Christine Edwards wrote to me from Australia as she is connected with this family

Name of your CUMPSTON relative:

Agnes Compston

Message:

Agnes May Compston (b 1887) is my grandmother.

Her father was Edward Compston (c1850) and her mother was Annie Leason(c1853)

His father was Richard Compston (c1828) married to Elizabeth Smith (c1830).

Richard's father was Edward Compston (1803) - mother Jane Hine? (c1806) I think he was also married to Agnes.

His father was Edward Compston (c1771) - mother Ruth Sewell (c1771).

I'm not sure how accurate all this is though.  My grandmother told me that her father (Edward) was a boilermaker and at some point they lived in Ireland.

She had two sisters - Elizabeth and Violet.  My grandmother had 10 children.  My mother was also called Agnes.

Thank you for sharing this information - I hope you have some photos to add to the page.
