David Compston CBE has been appointed as the new Chairman of Cumbria Inward Investment Agency Ltd. He replaces Tim Knowles who has chaired the company from its inception in 1996, and who remains as a director.
Cumbrian born, David Compston (61) is already an active Ambassador for Cumbria. He is the former Chairman of Allot & Lomax; one of the UK's leading international engineering consultants which has been involved in many of the recent major industrial and infrastructure developments in West Cumbria. He is also a former Chairman of the Manchester Training and Enterprise Council and remains actively involved in training as a Member of the Training Standards Council. He is the non-executive Member of the Management Board of the Government Offices in the Regions of England.
David lives near Kirkby Lonsdale and takes up his new responsibility for the unpaid role from 1 July. He commented "CIIA has made an impressive contribution to the economic development of Cumbria in its first three years.
